I do a lot of work for Terri Reynolds of Just Imagine Parties in St. Helena. She has amazing performers and really imaginative party concepts. She also follows through with exacting attention to detail.
She wanted to introduce a new performer, Teague, to her roster of performers. So she hired me to photograph her in a variety of costumes. All the photos for Terri’s use were in color, but I took some B&W for fun. I’m posting a few of those and some of my own favorite color shots. As you can see, Teague is very photogenic and knows how to “own” the lens.
P.S. the B&W film is Tri-X

One of my favorite things to shoot are portraits of couples. These could be shot months, weeks, or sometimes hours before the wedding day. I think it’s a great way for me to get to know the couple. It also helps them to get comfortable with the idea of being photographed together as a single unit.

I met Barry and Diana while I was photographing another wedding at St Gregory’s Church in San Mateo– about 15 minutes from San Francisco. They asked if I was available for their date and we went from there. Their wedding was the joining together of a great Italian/American family with an equally great Irish/American clan. The wedding was everything a great wedding should be. Two wonderful people and their families melding together as a new unit. It was also one helluva great party.
This is one the best things about this job–making new friends with terrific people like Diana and Barry.

A couple of Months ago on a beautiful Napa Valley April Day, we had a birthday party for my daughter Ellie at my parents’ St. Helena house. The weather cooperated and with the help of Terri Reynolds of Just Imagine Parties, we had a very memorable 6th birthday. Terri is the best, check out her website www.kissthefrog.org. Many of the photographs on her site are by Sam Aslanian Photography and she knows how to throw a party.

This blog is mostly supposed to be about my professional wedding and portrait business, but my sister Dena and her family are going to Savannah and I thought I’d post something from our visit there last year. We spent a very hot and humid afternoon in one of Savnnah’s beautiful cemetaries. Here are the photos:

“The Waiting is the hardest part”…
The waiting before the wedding is actually one of my favorite times. It’s a performance waiting to go on stage. The makeup is applied. The lines are rehearsed one last time. The costumes are put on. The well-wishers come by to give their love and support.
In the next few days I will post my favorite photos of the pre-weddings. Here’s the first post.
